Song Hailiang Attends Business Meeting, Witnesses Signing of Contracts in Singapore

Song Hailiang, Board Chairman of Energy China met with Wong Kim Yin, Group President & CEO of Sembcorp and Liew Mun Leong, Principal of Building People Consultancy and a member of Energy China's Strategy and Talent Advisory Committee in Singapore on March 15, local time.

Song Hailiang expressed his gratitude to Sembcorp and Building People Consultancy for their long-standing trust and support for Energy China. Energy China has always viewed Southeast Asia as a core market, thus selecting Singapore as the first stop of its first overseas high-end marketing event in 2024, Song Hailiang noted.

He said Sembcorp is a globally leading provider of energy and urban solutions, with businesses covering energy, utilities, and integrated township development, among others.

In recent years, the two sides have jointly created a number of green and sustainable projects that have served as significant demonstrations and models to be emulated, receiving widespread attention and acclaim, Song Hailiang said.

He said Energy China is currently accelerating its four major transformations towards innovation-driven, green and low-carbon, digital, as well as shared and integrated development, building platforms for new energy, new infrastructure and new industry in a systematic manner.

The company is willing to work with Sembcorp to leverage their differentiated advantages, so as to deepen their long-term strategic cooperation in Southeast Asia and third-party markets globally at large, and jointly contribute to the green, low-carbon, and sustainable development of the Asia-Pacific region and the world.

Wong Kim Yin welcomed Song Hailiang and the delegation he led, expressing gratitude for Energy China's deep involvement in Singapore's new energy development.

He said that Energy China and Sembcorp enjoy a sound history and a solid foundation of cooperation, share a common vision in green energy development, and see tremendous potential and room for cooperation.

He hopes to further strengthen cooperation with Energy China to make positive contributions to the global endeavors in addressing climate change.

Liew Mun Leong welcomed the visit of the Energy China delegation to Singapore, and expressed high expectations for the cooperation prospects between Energy China and Sembcorp in the new energy sector.

He said green development is an inevitable path to promoting high-quality and sustainable socio-economic development. Against the backdrop of a transformation in global energy structure, there is tremendous development potential in the international energy sector, he added.

He hopes that Energy China and Sembcorp can leverage their respective strengths to actively participate in Singapore's urban construction.

After the meeting, Shanxi Electric Power Engineering Co., Ltd. under Energy China and Sembcorp signed EPC contracts of a solar photovoltaic project at Jurong Island, as well as an IKN 50MW solar power plant and a 14MWh energy storage project in Indonesia.

Koh Chiap Khiong, CEO of Sembcorp Singapore & Southeast Asia, Zhang Chao, Partner of Building People Consultancy, as well as heads of relevant departments of the two sides joined the meeting.

Song Hailiang and his delegation also went on field trips to an energy storage project and the solar photovoltaic project at Jurong Island during his visit to Singapore.
