Peab begins €44m Swedish prison

Swedish builder Peab has been commissioned to build a €44m prison in the Swedish city of Borås.
It’s part of a new judicial complex comprising a new police station and district court.
The customer is state-owned security-related property manager, Specialfastigheter.
It will be a seven-storey building with room for 116 prisoners.
Work has begun, with Peab now mounting the building’s frame.
It’s scheduled to be ready in 2026.
“We’re happy and proud that Specialfastigheter has once again put their trust in Peab,” said Peab regional manager, Liselott Bergkvist.
She added: “It means a lot to us to be able to provide our experience and expertise and thus contribute to Specialfastigheter and the Prison and Probation Service’s crucial operations. This is a complex project that requires good coordination and collaboration between all the actors involved.”
