Suzlon has secured a 200 MW wind order from Ayana Renewable Power in Madhya Pradesh, its third DevCo-led contract in the sector, pushing its S144 platform past the 10 GW installed milestone.

Suzlon Energy has announced it secured its maiden wind energy order from Ayana Renewable Power Limited, for a capacity of 200 megawatts (MW). According to the Indian company, the contract marks its third wind order executed under a DevCo model, spread across two Indian states, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh. With this order, Suzlon's flagship S144 turbine platform crosses the 10 gigawatt (GW) cumulative installed milestone.

A project delivered under an integrated EPC model

As part of the project, Suzlon plans to install 64 turbines of its S144 model, each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW. The company states it will execute the entire project through an integrated EPC (engineering, procurement, construction) offering, covering turbine supply, land acquisition, balance of plant works, the pooling substation, the extra-high-voltage line, as well as commissioning and operations and maintenance services.

The wind farm will be built in Limbawas, in the state of Madhya Pradesh, with the power generated connected to the grid of state-owned Madhya Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (MPPCL). According to Mr. Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman and co-founder of Suzlon Group, Madhya Pradesh holds more than 55 GW of wind potential at 150 metres, which he said positions the state as one of the key drivers of India's next phase of wind energy growth.

Ayana strengthens its wind portfolio

Ayana Renewable Power Limited has built a 5.5 GW renewable energy portfolio spanning wind, solar and round-the-clock renewable power, according to statements from Mr. Tanti. Mr. Lakshmi Narayanan B, Head of Business Development at Ayana Renewable Power, said the project marks an important milestone as the company establishes its wind presence in Madhya Pradesh.

Mr. Ajay Kapur, Chief Executive Officer of Suzlon Group, said four wind orders have been secured across two states in a short span of time, which he said illustrates the group's ability to develop and execute renewable energy projects through an integrated approach. Neither Suzlon nor Ayana Renewable Power disclosed a commissioning timeline for the Limbawas project.
