Skanska wins two US jobs worth $143m

Swedish contractor Skanska has won a data centre worth $90m in the US state of Georgia and a $53m initial build contract at Virginia Tech university.
In Georgia, the contract is in addition to an existing $238m project, including the construction of a 22,700 sq m data centre, office fit-out and five data halls.
Construction is due to begin in August and to be completed in February 2026.
At Virginia Tech, Skanska has been tasked with building a College of Engineering, the scope of which includes demolition of the previous Randolph Hall and the construction of the new Mitchell Hall (pictured).
Construction will include the unusual requirement of working around an existing a wind tunnel.
Mitchell Hall will have a floor area of 26,500 sq m, 70% more than Randolph on the same footprint.
Construction will begin this month with the demolition of Randolph. Mitchell Hall is due to be completed in spring 2028.
