Three Achievements of Shougang Win Beijing Science and Technology Progress Awards

Recently, the Decision of the Beijing Municipal People’s Government on the Beijing Science and Technology Awards in 2022 was announced, and three achievements led and participated in by Shougang won Beijing Science and Technology Progress Awards. Among them, the Shougang Group and Beijing Shougang Co., Ltd. participated in the completion of “Key Technologies for Controlling Large Particle Inclusions in Steel for New Energy Vehicles”, which won the first prize; and the Shougang Group, Beijing Shougang Construction Investment Co., Ltd. and Beijing Shougang International Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. participated in the completion of “Key Technologies for Sustainable Utilization of Whole Process of Beijing Winter Olympics Competitive Artificial Profile Track Venues” and “Key Technologies and Industrialization Research on Nickel-based Superalloy Cold Rolled Thin Strips for Metal Sealing“, the latter of which was completed by the Shougang BEIYE Functional Materials Corporation, won the second prize.

“Key Technologies for Controlling Large Particle Inclusions in Steel for New Energy Vehicles” involved in-depth and systematic research on large-size slag inclusions in high-end steel sheets for new energy vehicles. It put forward accurate judgment rules for slag inclusion tracers and realized the accurate traceability of slag inclusions and the dynamic prediction of composition evolution. Control technology for ladle slag and tundish slag in the continuous casting process was developed, solving the problem of the unknown sources of large and medium size inclusions in liquid steel, and effectively reducing the amount of slag in the continuous casting process. A neural network prediction model of nozzle nodulation was established, the influence laws of different cleaning parameters on mold nozzle nodulation were determined, and the Al2O3-SiO2-C anti-plugging submerged nozzle was developed as a key piece of technology for efficient argon blowing to inhibit nozzle nodulation, thereby effectively preventing mold slag rolling caused by unsteady casting. The key technology and real-time online prediction software of the liquid steel flow pattern in the continuous casting mold were formed, a mold slag rolling index suitable for different steel grades and continuous casting process parameters was proposed, and a growth prediction model and control technology for the surface solidification hooks of continuous casting billets were established, realizing the optimal control of the flow field and dynamic prediction of slag rolling occurrence, and significantly reducing the incidence of defects caused by slag inclusions. This achievement provided technical support for improving the quality and stable production and preparation of high-quality steel plates in China, and promoted the high-quality development of China’s new energy automobile industry.

“Key Technologies for Sustainable Utilization of Whole Process of Beijing Winter Olympics Competitive Artificial Profile Track Venues” involved systematic research on site planning, component materials, structural construction, slope design, piste detection, function transformation and other competitive artificial profile track venues such as Big Air Shougang (“Snow Flying Apsaras”), National Ski Jumping Center (“Snow Ruyi”) and Genting Ski Park. These technical achievements guided the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the above venues, promoted the breakthrough of Chinese venues meeting international standards, formed a sustainable technical system of the whole process of competition facilities with international competitiveness, and contributed to the scientific running of the Beijing Winter Olympics and sustainable utilization after the Games. The results of this research have been recognized as reaching the international advanced level, among which the design of permanent Big Air competition facilities, track structure vibration control and high-precision construction technology, track fast conversion technology and human factor analysis technology reached the international leading level. These results have been applied in six artificial section track demonstration projects including Big Air Shougang and the National Ski Jumping Center, thereby making outstanding contributions to the smooth implementation of the Beijing Winter Olympics and winning the high praise of international organizations such as the International Olympic Committee.

“Key Technologies and Industrialization Research on Nickel-based Superalloy Cold Rolled Thin Strips for Metal Sealing” belongs to the field of major equipment high-temperature alloy technology development. The project aimed to address such issues as the quality, cleanliness, mechanical properties, flatness, surface quality, etc. of China’s high-temperature alloy cold-rolled thin strip steel, which previously failed to meet the requirements of aero-engine metal sealing, leading to a heavy dependence on imports for metal sealing and the increased difficulty of ensuring national security. The project made breakthroughs in the technologies of pure smelting, hot working, flatness control and surface treatment, and developed a series of superalloy strips for metal sealing. The series of products developed by the project passed the long-term test of aero-engines and passed the appraisal (review) of the Aero Engine Corporation of China, Aviation Industry Corporation of China and other relevant units. The products have been widely used in aero-engines in China, with a domestic market share of more than 90%, solving the bottleneck material problem of aero-engines and ensuring national security. In addition to aero-engines, they are also widely used in the key components of major equipment such as rocket engines, nuclear fuel pressure vessel seals in nuclear power plants, gas turbine seals and automobile engine seals.

It is understood that the 2022 Beijing Science and Technology Awards are divided into six categories: the Zhongguancun Award for Outstanding Contribution, Zhongguancun Award for Outstanding Youth, Zhongguancun Award for International Cooperation, Natural Science Award, Technological Invention Award and Science and Technology Progress Award. A total of 21 scientists and 188 achievements were awarded in this selection.
