The project is set to serve as an important connecting road between the areas within Dhofar Governorate. Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT) has announced the commencement of works on the 210km road project in the Dhofar Governate in the country. The project begins in Harweb and ends in the Meiten area in the province of Al Mazyounah, reported the Times of Oman. The cross-section encompasses two traffic lanes, each 3.5m wide, and accompanied by 0.5m asphalt shoulders on each side, and 1.5m wide wide dirt shoulders from each side. The road will be developed in line with the standard requirements approved in the country’s Road Design Manual. These roads will be built with all the necessary traffic safety features such as guiding regulations, concrete and metal barriers, and warning signs. Upon completion, the project is expected to contribute to easing traffic flow between the regions of the country and boosting commercial and economic movement between the areas. The Harweb-Al Mazyounah-Meiten road project is set to serve as an important connecting road in the Dhofar Governorate. It is one of several projects launched by the country’s ministry within its construction implementation plan for the current year. The MTCIT has revealed that it will invest approximately $2.6bn in road construction in 2023. This includes the aforementioned road project along with the 260km Al Sharqiyah Expressway and 170km Wilayat Muqshin development in Dhofar.
