Austria’s Porr Group has won two rail contracts together worth €532m from Polish state rail operator PKP PLK for the country’s south east.
In the Bieszczady region, Porr won a €400m contract to modernise 80km of railway between Jasło and Nowy Zagórz.
The design and build contract involves modernising 18 stations and stops, building six new stations and 80 level crossings.
Porr will also have to build a 1.65km long tunnel in the town of Krosno, plus three railway tunnels and three road viaducts.
Work is scheduled to be finished by the end of 2028.
In the Małopolska region, Porr is working with partner Trakcja System on a €132m modernisation of 15km of Line 104 between Rabka Zaryte and Fornale to let trains travel at speeds of up to 120 km/h.
The contract involves railway electrification work, plus platform construction at stops in Raba Niżna and Mszana Dolna Marki.
The team will work on nine railway bridges, four road bridges, five viaducts and an underpass at Mszana Dolna station.
Construction work between Rabka Zaryte to Mszana Dolna will be taken over from a previous contractor.
Work on the project is due to be completed in the third quarter of 2027. Porr has a 90.5% stake in the consortium.
