Nextracker to supply solar tracker solutions for 1.5GW projects in Brazil
15 August 2025
Brazil’s renewable energy firm Casa dos Ventos has chosen Nextracker to supply 1.5GW of advanced solar tracker systems for its inaugural venture into utility-scale solar projects across four new sites.
The awarded contracts will see the deployment of NX Horizon-XTR all-terrain solar trackers and NX Horizon solar tracker systems for four new utility-scale solar and hybrid projects in Brazil: the 117MW Babilônia Sul situated in Bahia’s Morro do Chapéu, the 226MW Babilônia Centro in Várzea Nova, Bahia, and the 540MW Seriemas and 680MW Rio Brilhante located in Mato Grosso do Sul.
Casa dos Ventos construction and operations director Thiago Rezende stated: “Partnering with Nextracker gives us confidence in the long-term performance and reliability of our projects.
“Nextracker’s strong track record, focus on engineering excellence and ability to deliver high-quality solutions make it a trusted technology partner for the future.”
The partnership represents Casa dos Ventos’s inaugural utility-scale solar deployment and a key step in its strategy to develop hybrid power plants that combine solar and wind energy at shared grid connections.
By integrating complementary energy sources and infrastructure, these hybrid plants can improve grid capacity, addressing Brazil’s limited transmission capabilities.
Nextracker’s NX Horizon-XTR all-terrain tracker system is already installed in Babilônia Sul, Babilônia Centro and Seriemas sites.
This system is specifically designed for challenging terrains, offering cost savings by reducing the need for extensive land modifications.
All four locations will integrate Nextracker’s TrueCapture yield management and control system, which employs sensors and machine learning, to adjust tracker angles dynamically, ensuring optimal energy production even in varied lighting conditions or uneven landscapes.
Nextracker Latin America vice-president Alejo Lopez stated: “Securing a multi-project commitment from a renewable energy leader like Casa dos Ventos reflects the growing importance of trusted partnerships when it comes to performance and long-term reliability in today’s solar industry.
“We are honoured to support Casa dos Ventos with solutions that are engineered for resilience and optimised for each of its unique environmental site conditions.”
In June 2025, Nextracker was chosen to supply its NX Horizon solar trackers for the 550MW Oricheio PPC Ptolemaida solar photovoltaic (PV) park located in Western Macedonia, Greece.
