Ferrovial, through the Energy Solutions area of its Construction division, has been selected to take charge of end-to-end management of outdoor lighting in the municipality of Picanya, in Spain’s Valencia region. The 15-year contract is worth €6.9 million.
Under an energy services (ESCO) model, the company will upgrade 2,884 streetlights and fountain and ornamental lights, among others, using LED lamps. The contract scope also includes operating and maintaining streetlights, traffic lights, and fountain and bollard lights throughout the city.
A point-to-point management network will be installed for all public light fittings, which will contribute to energy savings and efficiency. Specifically, these initiatives will reduce electricity consumption by 50%, cutting CO2 emissions by 225 tons per year.
