CWP Global Partners with Bechtel to Assess Green Hydrogen Project in North Africa
27 April 2022
Renewable energy developer CWP Global has selected US-based EPC and project management company, Bechtel, to support the development of large-scale green hydrogen and ammonia production facilities in North Africa.
The agreement between CWP and Bechtel creates a platform to provide ongoing conceptual and early planning solutions required for selecting optimally integrated configurations for the gigawatt-scale green hydrogen facilities.
Alex Hewitt, CEO of CWP Global, said Bechtel’s technological and scientific expertise will allow CWP to accelerate the next stage of project development and support the decarbonization of key global industries to achieve net-zero carbon emissions. CWP Global aims to deliver the first million tons of green hydrogen and ammonia by 2028.
Bechtel Energy Technologies & Solutions (BETS), a group under Bechtel Corporation will support CWP to take their next steps toward developing the complex green hydrogen hubs. The overall assessment work for the green projects comprises recommendations for a techno-economic implementation plan, including electrolyte capacity requirements, location-specific design challenges, cooling water supply, and disposal of wastewater.
CWP has successfully implemented over 1.5 GW of renewable energy projects in Europe and Australia, and currently working on more than 140 GW of renewable energy capacity intended for the production of green hydrogen and ammonia on three continents, including Africa.
