ACCIONA to refurbish cargo terminal at Kraków Airport in Poland
5 September 2025
ACCIONA - through its Polish subsidiary Mostostal Warszawa - has been awarded the contract to refurbish the old cargo terminal building at John Paul II International Airport in Kraków.
The project involves completely refurbishing the former building to convert it into a pre-boarding area with six additional gates. This will entail partially demolishing the existing structure and completely reorganizing and redesigning the interiors to accommodate temporary boarding lounges for non-Schengen passengers.
A key element of the project is creating a functional connection between the redeveloped building and the main passenger terminal by constructing a connecting walkway on the first floor. Additionally, two new escalators will link the upper floors and the ground floor of the building.
The refurbishment will also cover the esplanade, the area around the building, which will be upgraded to ensure a safe and comfortable service for future passengers.
The airport will remain in operation during the execution of the works, which are expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2026. This guarantees the continuity of operations and the safety of passengers throughout the project.
ACCIONA, through its subsidiary in Poland, has completed previous projects at Kraków Airport. Earlier this year it successfully completed construction of a new cargo terminal, and in June, it signed a contract to build a central waste collection facility within the airport grounds.
