Greece: Faria Renewables and Huawei forge strategic partnership to boost energy storage projects
24 January 2025Greek energy company Faria Renewables and Chinese tech giant Huawei have announced a strategic partnership to advance battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Greece. The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to accelerate the country’s energy transition and promote sustainability within the renewable energy sector.
Faria Renewables, a rapidly expanding Greek independent power producer, is focused on diversifying its renewable energy portfolio. The company is committed to integrating substantial energy storage solutions, which are essential for maintaining a reliable energy supply, improving grid stability, enhancing power quality, and enabling large-scale renewable energy integration.
As part of the partnership, Huawei will provide Faria Renewables with advanced solar and BESS technologies, along with extensive technical support for projects reaching up to 1 GWh in capacity over the coming years. The first project under this collaboration has already begun, with a contract signed for a pioneering BESS project in Greece. The project will have a nominal output of 49.9 MW and a storage capacity of 100 MWh, with operations set to begin in 2025. This project successfully won the second standalone battery auction in Greece.
Faria Renewables’ focus on energy storage aligns closely with Greece’s national energy goals, demonstrating a strong commitment to facilitating the energy transition and increasing renewable energy integration into the national grid.
By combining Huawei’s cutting-edge technology with Faria Renewables’ expertise, the partnership aims to set new benchmarks for innovation, efficiency, and sustainability in the renewable energy industry.
