18 December 2024
American engineer Aecom and Swedish consultant Rejlers have won a contract on the 270km North Bothnia rail line
The team will work on the development of railways and public roads in Piteå, a port on the Gulf of Bothnia.
The duo, working on behalf of the Swedish Transport Administration, will also carry out environmental impact assessments, manage permits and prepare for the construction phase.
Henrik Öhrnell, Rejlers’ head of infrastructure, said: “It is always satisfying to see a team effort bear fruit!
“Our collaboration with Aecom is now being further developed and we look forward to creating the North Bothnia Line together for a couple of years with a focus on sustainable solutions and long-term societal benefits.”
The North Bothnia Line will link the cities of Umeå and Luleå to the Bothnia Line, which opened in 2010, as well as European freight railways.
