Skanska and Syltern to build section of 3,000km Norwegian highway
30 November 2023
Swedish contractor Skanska and Norwegian civil engineer Syltern have won a contract to build a highway in Norway’s central Trøndelag County.
This 15km section of the E6 highway will link the village of Berkåk and Vindåsliene and will have four lanes at its widest. There will be a new intersection as well as 800m of tunnels, six bridges and two wildlife crossings.
The E6 Berkåk-Vindåsliene project, which is being let by state road operator Nye Veier, aims to increase traffic safety and capacity on the E6 south of Trondheim and to boost development in the area.
The E6 runs 3,000km from northern Norway to southern Sweden.
Engineering will now begin, with construction to follow in spring 2024. Completion is expected in autumn 2027.
