ASEAN-China TVET Exchange Workshop Successfully Held

On the afternoon of 20 November 2023, with the joint efforts of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) and Beijing Education Association for International Exchange (BEAIE), the ASEAN-China TVET Exchange Workshop was successfully held at the ACC Secretariat. H.E. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ACC, President Huang Kan of BEAIE attended the event. Representatives of TVET institutions in the fields of science and technology, agriculture and transportation and other disciplines in Beijing, as well as education counsellors and officials from the embassies of ASEAN Member States (AMS) in Beijing gathered.
SG Shi Zhongjun pointed out that amid the current global complexities, ASEAN and China have maintained sound economic and social development. Vocational education provides strong talent support to social advancement, and there is great potential for cooperation in this area. He hoped that the exchange today could lead to pragmatic programs between the two sides, with TVET players in Beijing making better use of their strength.
University representatives and education officials from Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Cambodia shared the basic information, academic strength and cooperation needs of TVET and had in-depth exchanges on topics such as integration of education with industry and the exchanges of teachers and students.In his summary remarks, Huang Kan of BEAIE expressed his hope to tap the potential of TVET education in Beijing and make better use of important platforms such as the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), so as to optimize overall planning and coordination, design tailored programs based on mutual demands and form a sustainable long-term working mechanism for Beijing and ASEAN.
