Skanska builds highway in Oslo, Norway, for NOK 4.6 billion, about SEK 4.6 billion
6 June 2023Skanska has signed a contract with the Norwegian Road Authority (NPRA) to build the new E18 highway between Fornebukrysset and Strand outside Oslo, Norway. The contract is worth NOK 4.6 billion, about SEK 4.6 billion, which will be included in the Nordic order bookings for the second quarter 2023.
The contract consists of the design and building of a total of 2.3 kilometers of new 2x3 lanes E18 motorway between Fornebukrysset and Strand, a new main uninterrupted cycle route on the entire section and a new local access road to Fornebu. Furthermore, the contract includes building of 660 meters of the Høvik Tunnel and 440 meters of the Gjønnes Tunnel. The contract also includes changes to the adjacent local road systems with pedestrian and cycle paths. The project will be environmentally certified according to BREEAM Infrastructure – level Excellent.
Construction is expected to begin during the summer of 2023 and the project will be completed early 2030.
The contract is part of the major project E18 Western Corridor, which consists of a new main highway system between Lysaker in Bærum and Drengsrud in Asker municipality. The new E18 will replace one of Norway’s busiest road sections, today characterized by traffic problems, poor accessibility for public transportation and extensive noise and air pollution.
