Ferrovial to construct 200 MWp solar PV project in Spain
29 March 2023
Ferrovial has been awarded the contract to build the Renopool solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Badajoz, Spain, for more than EUR100 million (US$108.9 million). The project, which has a capacity of 200 MWp, is part of the company's commitment to decarbonising the economy and is in line with its Horizon 24 Plan.
The contract is turnkey, which means Ferrovial will implement the project starting from the design, building and commissioning of the plant to operation and maintenance during the initial two years. The duration of the project is expected to be 14 months, generating around 500 direct and indirect jobs in the process.
The Renopool solar PV plant will consist of 350,000 bifacial photovoltaic modules and is expected to produce 400 GWh yearly, which is enough to supply electricity to over 118,000 homes every year. The project is estimated to decrease CO2 emissions by 65,920 metric tons every year, underlining the company's commitment to sustainable energy and the environment.
