Indian expressway port plan proposed
31 May 2022
Proposals are being put forward to restart plans to build an elevated expressway link in India. Building the Chennai Port-Maduravoyal Elevated Expressway is expected to cost US$754.3 million.
The expressway design calls for the construction of a 21km dual deck route connecting Madurvoyal on the Chennai-Bengaluru Highway with the Napier Bridge. The proposal calls for seven entrance ramps for the expressway as well as six exit ramps.
Building the route would improve traffic flow for light vehicles to and from Chennai Port, one of India's most important international transport connections.
