Brazilian state of Ceara inks fresh green H2, solar energy MoUs
19 March 2022
March 18 (Renewables Now) - The government of the Brazilian state of Ceara on Wednesday signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with two companies that seek to set up solar energy and green hydrogen production in Brazil's northeastern state.
Renewable energy firm Kroma Energia plans to develop 690 MW of solar projects in Ceara. According to the state government, Kroma proposes to invest BRL 2.2 billion (USD 432m/EUR 390m) to build the Arapua e Frei Damiao solar photovoltaic (PV) complexes, which would be located inland.
H2 Green Power Ltda, for its part, is seeking to produce green hydrogen at the Pecem industrial and port complex, where it would join a wealth of like-minded investors.
For the Ceara state government, the latest is the 17th MoU signed with a party that aims to invest in the development of the green hydrogen hub at Pecem.
The government expects to sign three more green hydrogen MoUs in the near future, said Maia Junior, the head of Ceara’s state secretariat for economic development and labour (Sedet).
