Skanska divests office building in Kiruna, Sweden, for about SEK 260M
2 October 2021
The office building, named Börsen H1, will be located on the town hall square in the new Kiruna city center, adjacent the town hall. The project, which is being developed and built by Skanska, is a natural continuation of Skanska's involvement in Kiruna's urban development. Skanska is building the new hotel in the city and there are plans for further projects in the Börsen district in the future.
With high sustainability requirements regarding climate, energy performance and choice of materials as well as waste and water management, the office building will have a very low environmental impact. The building will be equipped with roof mounted solar cells with the goal to be self-sufficient in property electricity. The intention is for Börsen H1 to be certified according to LEED Gold.
Construction begins in the fourth quarter 2021 and will be completed in 2023.
Skanska is one of the leading construction- and project development companies in the Nordics, with operations in building construction and civil engineering in Sweden, Norway and Finland, and developing residential- and commercial property projects in select home markets. The commercial development stream is also active in Denmark. Skanska had sales of about SEK 66 billion and about 14,800 employees in its Nordic operations during 2020.
