Enery Signs 10-Year Green Power Deal With Orange Slovensko

Regional producer Enery will supply 125,030 MWh of renewable electricity to Orange Slovensko over ten years, via a new 12.5-MWp solar plant in the Banska Bystrica Region.

Regional power producer Enery has signed a 10-year physical Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with telecommunications operator Orange Slovensko. The contract will supply renewable electricity for the company's network operations across Slovakia. Under the terms of the agreement, Enery will deliver 125,030 megawatt-hours (MWh) of green energy over the decade.

A New Solar Plant in the Banska Bystrica Region

The electricity will come from a new 12.5-megawatt-peak (MWp) photovoltaic plant located in the Banska Bystrica Region. Commissioning is scheduled for 2027. Once operational, the facility is expected to produce approximately 15 gigawatt-hours (GWh) annually, a volume the company says is enough to cover the consumption of 4,520 households while offsetting 1,125 tonnes of carbon emissions every year. By comparison, other large-scale solar projects have recently emerged elsewhere in the world, such as the 240 MW solar plant launched by Invenergy in Ohio.

According to Enery, the contract marks the first corporate power purchase agreement ever signed by Orange Slovensko. The telecom operator frames the move as part of its environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiative called "The Best Network Under the Sun." The deal represents Enery's second green agreement in Slovakia, as the company expands its renewable portfolio across Central and Eastern Europe.

An Extension of the Partnership With the Orange Group

"Reaching a third Corporate PPA with Orange, following two agreements with Orange Romania and now expanding our partnership to Slovakia, reflects the trust built between our companies," said Severin Vartigov, Chief Commercial Officer at Enery. He added that this type of partnership reflects joint growth with customers across multiple markets, while providing long-term access to renewable energy and greater cost visibility.

The agreement is part of Enery's expansion strategy in the renewable energy market across Central and Eastern Europe, where the company is increasing direct supply contracts with corporate clients. Conversion equipment used in this type of solar installation, such as high-power inverters, has also seen recent technological developments, including the Proteus PV inverters from ABB, capable of reaching up to 9.4 MVA.
