Savener awarded design contract for Barka V SWRO desalination plant in Oman
31 May 2021
Savener, the Spanish engineering consultancy, has announced that it has won the design contract for the Barka V sea water reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant in Oman, which will feature a capacity of 100,000 cu m per day.
In a statement, Savener said that after months of international competition, the EPC formed by the Spanish GS Inima and the Italian Fisia Italimpianti selected Savener to carry out the design of practically all the engineering of the installation, signing a contract that will involve more than 50,000 hours of work.
Set to come up in the north of Muscat, the project will have an investment of $129 million. It will have five RO trains using Spiral wound membranes, a DAF pre-treatment system and Gravity Dual Media Filters and a post-treatment using UP-flow Limestone filter.
The alliance will allow the Savener team and specialists and the GS Inima and Fisia Italimpianti technicians to work in a coordinated manner in all disciplines associated with the project, such as Civil Engineering, Electricity, Piping, Process, I&C, Mechanics or 3D Modeling, guaranteeing the usual levels of demand and quality of Savener projects, the statement added.
“With this project Savener consolidates its knowledge and experience in the water sector, specifically in desalination systems, and reinforces its presence as a strategic and technological partner of large engineering projects in the international arena,” it continued.
