“In the presence of H.E. Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir, the Egyptian Minister of Transportation, Hassan Allam Utilities has signed a tripartite agreement with Alexandria Port Authority and Al Tarek Capital Real Estate Asset Management to explore the potential establishment, development, and operation of an integrated regional and international distribution, re-export and value-added logistics hub at Dekheila Port.
The agreement was signed by Amr Allam, Co-CEO of Hassan Allam Holding and Chairman of Hassan Allam Utilities; Rear Admiral Ehab Salah, Chairman of the Alexandria Port Authority; and Mohamed Tarek, Chairman of Al Tarek Capital Real Estate Asset Management. The ceremony was also attended by Hassan Allam, Chairman and CEO of Hassan Allam Holding; and Karim Hefzy, Chief Operating Officer of Hassan Allam Utilities and CEO of CACC Cargolinx.
The project would occupy approximately 273,000 square meters in the port’s western hinterland, on a land plot intended to be incorporated into the port’s customs zone. The agreement provides for assessing the potential establishment, development and operation of the hub by Hassan Allam Utilities. and Al Tarek Capital Real Estate Asset Management, subject to the execution of a final agreement, satisfaction of applicable conditions, and obtaining the necessary approvals.
Amr Allam, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Hassan Allam Holding and Chairman of Hassan Allam Utilities, said: “Transport and logistics are central to our investment strategy at Hassan Allam Utilities. We see a clear opportunity to strengthen the connections between ports, distribution networks, and industrial activity, helping goods move more efficiently and businesses access wider markets. The Dekheila hub reflects this approach, bringing together port connectivity and value-added logistics services to support more competitive supply chains and reinforce Egypt’s position as a regional transport and trade hub.”
The hub would support re-export, transit, transshipment, storage, handling, value-added logistics, and light industries. It aims to strengthen Dekheila Port’s position as an Eastern Mediterranean trade and logistics hub, subject to approvals for free-zone status or a similar regulatory and operational framework permitting these activities, helping attract investment and trade flows and create value for the national economy.
