Germany: Nordex secures 34 MW order for Rauschenberg wind farm

EEF Erneuerbare Energien Fabrik has awarded Nordex a contract to supply five N175/6.X turbines to repower the Rauschenberg wind farm in Hesse, with delivery set for late 2027.

The Nordex Group has received an order for 34 megawatts (MW) in Hesse, Germany, from EEF Erneuerbare Energien Fabrik GmbH. For the Rauschenberg wind farm, the manufacturer will supply and install five N175/6.X turbines, mounted on towers with a hub height of 199 metres. The order also includes a Premium Service contract for a period of 20 years, according to a Nordex statement.

A repowering project with delivery by late 2027

Delivery and installation of the N175/6.X turbines will begin from the end of 2027, as part of a repowering project. Five existing turbines with a combined installed capacity of 3 MW will be replaced by more powerful units rated at 6.8 MW each, with no change in the number of turbines at the site. According to Nordex, this operation will significantly increase electricity generation at the site from summer 2028 onward. With a hub height of 199 metres and a large rotor diameter, the N175/6.X captures stronger and more consistent wind flows at higher altitudes. The company states that this technical configuration results in higher energy yields, improved site utilisation and increased electricity production, particularly during periods of lower wind. This technological approach fits into a broader industry trend, similar to other recent wind structure assembly operations, such as the assembly of a floating wind foundation for the Culzean project in Norway.

Executives highlight cooperation between the two companies

"The Rauschenberg project is a prime example of the next generation of wind energy. Through repowering, we will be able to generate significantly more renewable electricity at an established site in the future, bringing agriculture and renewables together," said Lukas Jörgens, Project Manager Rauschenberg at EEF Erneuerbare Energien Fabrik. He added that the trusting cooperation with Nordex, conducted on an equal footing, was an important foundation for the successful implementation of the project. For his part, Karsten Brüggemann, Vice President Region Europe of the Nordex Group, emphasized that the order demonstrated the potential of modern repowering projects to accelerate the energy transition and make more efficient use of existing sites. He noted that the N175/6.X on 199-metre towers enables very high energy yields even at low-wind sites, strengthening the economics of such projects. In March 2026, the Nordex Group had already received a first order for the delivery of three N175/6.X turbines, featuring the same hub height of 199 metres, for a project in North Rhine-Westphalia.
