Levanta Renewables Approves 40 MW Wind Farm in Vietnam

Levanta Renewables, a renewable energy platform operating across Southeast Asia and backed by investment fund Actis, has secured investment approval for its 40-megawatt (MW) Ia Dreng 1 wind farm, located in Gia Lai Province, Vietnam. The project received Investment Policy Approval from the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, followed by the issuance of its Investment Registration Certificate in the second quarter of 2026.

The announcement comes as several markets expand their wind capacity globally, such as Hungary, which recently launched a tender for 702 MVA of wind power capacity. Located in Vietnam's Central Highlands, the Ia Dreng 1 wind farm is targeted to begin construction in the first half of 2027, with commercial operations targeted for the second half of 2028.

A project aligned with national energy strategy

The 40 MW project will connect to Vietnam's national grid and is aligned with the country's Power Development Plan VIII. According to Levanta Renewables, Vietnam's transition toward a more sustainable energy system will play an important role in meeting the country's growing energy needs.

Pramod Singh, chief executive officer of Levanta Renewables, said the Ia Dreng 1 project represents an important step in the continued growth of the company's portfolio in Vietnam. He added that the company intends to bring its development experience and local expertise to advance a project that will contribute to the country's growing demand for reliable renewable power.

Strengthening the regional portfolio

The Ia Dreng 1 wind farm further strengthens Levanta Renewables' presence in Vietnam and adds to its growing portfolio of renewable energy projects across Southeast Asia. The company, backed by Actis, continues its development in a market where provincial authorities have validated the regulatory framework needed to implement the project. The announced timeline points to roughly a year and a half between the start of construction, planned for the first half of 2027, and commercial operations, targeted for the second half of 2028.
