Egis to manage thousands of kilometres of roads in Qatar
27 November 2025
France’s Egis has won two major contracts to operate and maintain thousands of kilometres of roads in Qatar, and to manage the country’s national intelligent transport communication systems.
The multidisciplinary consultant didn’t reveal the value of the contracts, which were awarded by Ashghal, Qatar’s Public Works Authority, following an international tender process.
Egis said the deals mark a “significant milestone in the company’s expansion in the Middle East and reinforce its position as a global leader in road operations and maintenance”.
Five- and three-year contracts
The first contract, spanning five years, covers the operation and maintenance of 700km of strategic motorways and 1,600km of secondary service roads.
The second, awarded for a period of three years, involves running the Road Management Centre, operating 23 tunnels, and maintaining Qatar’s intelligent transport communication systems.
“These contracts reflect Ashghal’s confidence in Egis’ expertise and underscore our ability to deliver complex, high-value infrastructure services at scale,” said Frederico Justus, CEO of Egis in the Middle East & South Asia.
Local and global knowledge
The Strategic Motorways contract encompasses 29 sections of highway, including segments up to 125km in length, totalling 10,500 lane-kilometres.
The Intelligent Transport Systems contract integrates traffic management, tunnel operation, and digital monitoring technologies across Qatar’s road network.
Egis will work with Qatar Building Company and Waagner Biro Bridge Qatar to combine local and global operational knowledge.
The contracts began in October 2025.
“Winning these two key contracts is a testament to our team’s dedication and expertise in delivering world-class operations and maintenance services meeting tomorrow’s standards,” said Pierre Yves Massille, CEO for Consulting and Operations of Egis.
