Bahrain receive proposals from 7 bidders For 72 MW solar PV project

Seven bidders have submitted proposals to Bahrain’s EWA, Ministry of Electricity and Water Affairs for the 72-megawatt, multi-site, grid-tied solar PV project.
The project is being procured under the BOOM or Build-Own-Operate-Maintain basis for a duration of 20 years. It comprises ground-mounted, rooftop, car park solar power systems as well as EV charging stations at the University of Bahrain, Bahrain International Circuit, Al Dana Amphitheatre, and Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority.
According to a notice from the Bahrain Tender Board, five proposals were accepted and two were withdrawn.
Accepted proposals included DEFT Contractors (BHD .016), Alpha Energy Generations Company (BHD .016), Tarsheed Energy Consultation and Services (BHD .018), Yellow Door Energy (BHD 17.890 conditionally) as well as Safeer For Renewable Energy (BHD .025)
The two suspended proposals were of Oak Energy and Infrastructure Solutions, (BHD .018) as well as Green Innova Trading, (BHD 21.211).
Although the tariff units were not mentioned in the notice from the tender board, the globally accepted format is bid amount/kilowatt hours.
In September 2022 that EWA was likely to receive multi-site projects during the first quarter of 2023.
The Request For Proposal (RfP) was published on 17 August 2022, while the bids opened on 26 December 2022.
