China State eyes Egypt Ras El-Hekma project work
20 February 2025
Beijing-headquartered firm China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) has partnered with Cairo-based Al-Organi Group to target projects at the upcoming Ras El-Hekma project in Egypt.
According to an official statement, "the partnership has set a target of securing contracting works over $5bn for the Ras El-Hekma project over the next three years".
Covering an area of about 170 million square metres (sq m), the estimated $35bn Ras El-Hekma project was announced by Abu Dhabi-based holding company ADQ in early 2024.
The development project involves the construction of a state-of-the-art city on the Ras El-Hekma peninsula west of Alexandria, between Marsa Matrouh and the city of New Alamein.
The project's scope includes residential districts, hotels, resorts, entertainment venues and service facilities such as hospitals, schools and universities. Plans also feature administrative buildings, an economic free zone for the information technology sector, logistics hubs, a business district and a marina.
The project got a head start in October 2024, when ADQ appointed Abu Dhabi-based developer Modon Holding as the master developer. Modon Holding will develop the project’s first phase, which will cover 50 million sq m. The remaining 120 million sq m will be developed in partnership with private developers under the supervision of the recently established ADQ subsidiary Ras El-Hekma Urban Development Project Company and Modon Holding.
