OHLA expands its renewables portfolio with two new contracts in Spain for more than 60 million euros
21 June 2024OHLA’s portfolio includes close to 35 renewable energy projects in Europe, the Americas and Asia. In total, they add up to an installed capacity of more than 2,600 MW, which could supply one and a half million homesmillion households per year.
The company achieved these records after being awarded two new contracts in Spain, one in Extremadura and the other in the region of Murcia, for a total amount exceeding €60 million.
So far this year, OHLA has signed contracts for four renewable energy projects in Spain. The total value of these projects is close to €175 million.
Focusing on new installations, the company has expanded its presence in Extremadura with a 54 MW photovoltaic plant. The project will consist of 88,500 photovoltaic modules. This power will generate more than 125,000 MWh/year of 100% clean energy, enough to power approximately 37,000 homes and avoid the emission of approximately 75,000 tons of CO2 per year.
It also strengthened its presence in Murcia with a new contract for nearly 90 MW, generating more than 230,000 MWh/year of energy that will supply 70,000 homes, avoiding the emission of approximately 140,000 tons of CO2 per year.
300 new jobs created
As part of the company’s strategy to promote biodiversity and local employment, it should be noted that the contracted projects will include the implementation of various biodiversity and environmental conservation plans.
Regarding local employment, the two new facilities will generate 300 direct and indirect jobs during the construction phase.
Over 2,000 MW under management in Spain
OHLA manages more than 2,000 MW of renewable energy projects in Spain, the company has recently been awarded the construction of different plants in the peninsula, such as the one in Castilla y Leon of 100 MW, two photovoltaic plants in Seville with a total capacity of 87 MW, a photovoltaic plant in Badajoz of 130 MW, one in Merida of 105 MW, one in Murcia of 200MW and another in Zaragoza of 125 MW.
