Concor Gets To Work On Johannesburg Office Buildings
19 April 2024Local contractor Concor has commenced construction on Block 2a, phase one of Intaprop’s Oxford Parks development in Johannesburg, South Africa
Oxford Parks is a mixed-use precinct comprising offices, retail and residential apartments and is an extension to Intaprop’s Rosebank development
Concor is constructing two office buildings with basement parking and retail space on the ground floor. The building at 10 Parks Boulevard on African Square spans six storeys, while the second building at 55 Eastwood Road is four storeys high. The common basement will accommodate four levels
Construction work commenced in February, with a tight 17-month schedule, and is anticipated for completion in September 2025.
The initial phases, including bulk earthworks, were completed in early March, with the construction team moving forward with raft foundation work
Concor says it is navigating several challenges inherent to the project’s scope and location. In particular, the proximity to the Gautrain railway limits the use of piling, necessitating raft foundations to ensure the project’s stability and durability. The launch of construction during the rainy season also posed a challenge due to the area’s adverse soil conditions
Concor will be implementing the Green Star V2 rating system for the project.
