Lagos State Selected for 25MW Solar Plant
19 April 2024The 25MW photovoltaic (PV) solar plant planned in Nigeria by UK-based Prime Teknologies will be built in Lagos state, ConstructAfrica can confirm.
One of the reasons Lagos has been chosen as the location for the US$55 million scheme is the quality of solar irradiance the state receives.
The PV plant is planned to cover an area of 150 acres and will include multiple battery energy storage systems. It aims to serve about 20,000-30,000 residential and commercial customers.
The due diligence process is under way and site works are tentatively scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2024. Construction is planned to be completed within 18-24 months.
Prime Teknologies will develop the project in partnership with China’s Huawei Fusion Solar and the government of Nigeria.
