African bank debars Chinese contractor
3 April 2024
The African Development Bank (AfDB) has debarred contractor China Henan International Cooperation Group from bidding for projects the bank funds for a year for a fraudulent practice.
China Henan failed to disclose the use of a commission agent while bidding for civil works in the upgrade of a road in Uganda, the bank said.
The year-long ban arose from a negotiated settlement with the company, it added.
China Henan can resume bidding for AfDB-funded projects after it implements an integrity compliance programme consistent with the Bank’s guidelines.
