ACWA POWER Signs $800 million Water Purchase agreement in Senegal

ACWA POWER Company, Saudi Arabia announces the signing of a water Purchase agreement, with the ministry of Water and sanitation and Senegalese Company of Water (“Sones”) for the construction of 400,000 m3/d desalination plant in Dakar, Senegal, through 2 phases of 200,000 m3/d capacity for each phase.
The value of the Contract is SAR 3,000 million (US $ 800 million).
Project Scope of works includes Design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of a Grande Côte seawater desalination plant in Senegal and design and construction of associated infrastructure.
The project will have a production capacity of 400,000 cubic meters per day using reverse osmosis technology to desalinate seawater.
The Commercial Operation Date (PCOD) of the first phase is expected by Q1,2028.
