EDF, KOWEPO to collaborate for UAE’s 1.5GW Khazna Solar PV IPP

Korea Western Power Co. (KOWEPO) announced in a statement that it has signed a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) with EDF Renewables (EDF-R) for a Potential development of Khazna 1.5 GW Solar Project Bid in United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Khazna Solar PV project, a greenfield solar power project with a generation capacity of 1,500 megawatts (AC), will be similar in scale and production capacity to Al Dhafra Solar PV and Al Ajban Solar PV.
Once fully operational, the project will generate enough electricity for approximately 160,000 homes across the UAE, and is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by more than 2.4 million metric tonnes per year, equivalent to removing approximately 470,000 cars from the road.
Earlier, the Companies wins the notable projects include the Manah 500 MW solar project in Oman and the Ajban 1.5 GW solar project in the UAE.
The company plans to leverage its trust and technological capabilities to handle financing, engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) negotiations, as well as operation and maintenance (O&M) of power plants, statement mentioned.
