20 February 2024
The Regulatory Authority for Waste, Energy and Water (RAAEY) has selected 48 projects with a combined capacity of 1.5 GW as provisional winners in the Greek second auction for battery energy storage capacity. The list contains proposals by 42 developers for projects totalling 1,556 MW/3,121 MWh. Seven companies’ bids, for 113 MW, have been excluded from the competition.
Among the shortlisted candidates are power utility Terna Energy, Italian Enel Green Power, Motor Oil Renewable Energy (MORE), French Akuo Energy, Eunice and Faria Renewables.
The final list of winners is due to be announced this week when the period for making objections expires.
Greece seeks to award 288 MW of battery storage projects in the second energy storage tender, in which it cut the available subsidies to 100,000 euros/MW. The first auction allocated 411.8 MW of capacity, offering 200,000 euros/MW of subsidies.
