Jeddah ISTP Project Achieves Commercial Operation Certificate

Power and Water Utility Company for Jubail and Yanbu (Marafiq) announces the receipt of the commercial operation certificate from Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) for the Jeddah Althaniya Water Company to treat wastewater located in Jeddah city.
The Project is having a treatment capacity estimated at 300 thousand cubic meters per day, the commercial operation for the treatment plant will be retroactive affective from 01/10/2023.
The project targets to fulfill the growing needs to treat sanitary wastewater in Jeddah by implementing the newest technologies by presenting; high treatment efficiency, low energy consumption.
The design and layout of the plant is developed to produce treated effluent suitable for water reuse and using its sludge for industrial and commercial purposes.
Moreover, the Project will contribute significantly to raise the level of services to attain environment sustainability by preserving natural environment, enhancing resource use efficiency, through leveraging private sector expertise in water and agriculture systems, developing local contents, and to achieve the development goals of Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
Marafiq owns 45% of shareholding stake in Jeddah Althaniya Water Company (the project developer).
It is pertinent to specify that the main project agreement between Jeddah Althaniya Water Company and the Saudi Water Partnership Company started on February 25th, 2019 and will continue for 25 years from the commercial operation date of the project.
