OHLA will participate in the construction of the new Silvouta WWTP facilities for nearly €60 million
30 January 2024
OHLA will carry out the construction of the new facilities of the Silvouta Wastewater Treatment Plant in Santiago de Compostela (Spain) in a joint venture. In addition to the construction phases, the contract includes the operation and maintenance of the facilities and the commissioning of the new wastewater treatment plant as a whole for 58.9 million euros.
The works awarded by the Board of Directors of the state-owned company Aguas de las Cuencas de España (ACUAES), of the Ministry for the Transition and the Demographic Challenge, will consist of the construction of a new treatment plant, which will treat an average flow of 52,000 m3/day, as well as the connection to the existing network of collectors.
In addition, a new electrical connection will be built that will be compatible with the energy needs of the new facility and will be equipped with a backup power supply.
The new infrastructure will have primary and stormwater treatment by lamellar sedimentation and biological treatment by activated sludge with ultrafiltration membranes, which will provide a discharge with a quality higher than that required for sensitive areas. Sludge treatment will include anaerobic digestion with thermal hydrolysis, which will allow the production of energy for self-consumption and the use of dehydrated sludge in agriculture.
Among its main advantages is the state-of-the-art deodorization system, which allows it to operate in harmony with the environment.
To achieve the required parameters, the new WWTP facilities are designed to treat an average flow of 51,840 m³/d (64,800 m³/d future forecast), which corresponds to a population equivalent of 205,000 current inhabitants (277,000 future inhabitants).
