South Korean construction firm Daewon plans to develop a 280ha eco-tourism and golf resort in the Forest of Hue in central Vietnam.

The scheme is awaiting approvals from the government of Thua Thien-Hue, expected in August.

Daewon hopes to break ground this year with the aim of completing it by 2033.

The resort will include museums, parks and cycle paths.

Last week, Cheun Eung Sik, chairman of Daewon, met with Nguyen Van Phuong, the chair of the Thua Thien-Hue Provincial People’s Committee to discuss the scheme.

Phuong said the province and its agencies would “strive to complete procedures so that the project can start construction in 2024”.

For his part, Cheun said Daewon would attract South Korean tourists and investors to Hue City.

Daewon has developed several projects in Vietnam, including the residential complex Cantavil Premier and Cantavil An Phu in Ho Chi Minh City and the Cantavil Long Hai resort in the southern province of Ba Ria.

Daewon, which entered Vietnam in 2004, also plans urban projects in Da Nang, Quang Tri and Quang Binh in central Vietnam.
