Albania: Auction for 300 MW solar projects launched
18 January 2024
The energy ministry has opened an auction for private investors interested in providing photovoltaic power projects with a cumulative capacity of 300 MW, minister Belinda Balluku announced.
Participants can submit projects with capacities between 10 MW and 100 MW until May 17. The maximum acceptable price in the auction will be 59.97 euros per MWh.
Successful bidders will be awarded a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Albanian government. Winners will be announced on July 10.
This is the country’s fifth auction for renewable energy sources. Unlike in previous auctions, this time the government will not provide the land necessary to develop the projects, Balluku noted.
