Saudi Arabia Signs Agreements for 7,200 MW IPP Projects

The Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) has signed the Power Purchase agreements for the projects of Taiba 1-2 and Qassim 1-2 power plants and approves the expansion of Rabigh power plant.
The total capacity of these projects is 8,400 MW.
Taiba 1 and Qassim 1 IPP Project:
The agreement is signed with the consortium of ACWA Power and Saudi Electricity Company (SEC). The Projects capacity is 3,600 MW.
Taiba 2 and Qassim 2 IPP Project:
The agreement is signed with the consortium of Al-Jomiah Energy and Water, EDF, Buhur for investment. The Projects capacity is 3,600 MW.
Expansion of Rabigh power plant:
Rabigh Power Plant Expansion Project by additing units using combined cycle technology. The Project capacity is 1200MW.
The Projects will contribute to supplying power to around 3.5 million residential units annually.
These Projects are an extension of the energy ecosystem’s efforts towards realizing vision 2030’s objectives to achieve optimal energy mix, as a part of the National Renewable Energy Program, supervised by the Ministry of Energy.
