CPK takes over Polish Airports in transport system revamp
28 September 2023
PPL owns Chopin Airport in Warsaw and airports in Radom and Zielona Góra. It also holds shares in most regional Polish airports including Kraków, Katowice, and Gdańsk.
Taking it over is Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK), the state-backed company integrating Polish air, road, and rail transportation.
It’s building a new international airport near Warsaw, plus 2,000km of new high-speed rail. Its goal is to put Warsaw within 2.5 hours of all major Polish cities.
“The takeover of PPL ensures a coherent development of the Polish aviation sector,” said CPK chief executive Mikołaj Wild.
“It enables us to better integrate investment activities and the objectives of the CPK programme, to prepare for the transfer of civil traffic and to test the technologies that will subsequently be used at the new airport.”
