Tender issued for 132 kV Transmission project in Tanzania
19 September 2023
Zanzibar Electricity Corporation has invited bids without prequalification for the procurement of plant design, supply and installation on a turnkey basis of 132 kV backbone transmission system infrastructure in Unguja Island, Zanzibar, Tanzania.
The project is divided into 2 lots:
- 132 kV Transmission Lines: Provide a 132 kV single circuit line from Fumba to Mtoni near Welezo Switching Station, using a tall multi-circuit tower with box cross-arm for incoming and outgoing circuits. Also, dismantle an existing 10km, 33kV OHTL route with twin peak OPGW multi-circuit monopoles between the Welezo Switching Station and Ubago area, and integrate it with the 33kV circuits of the Welezo – Ubago line. Additionally, create a new 132kV double circuit transmission line from Ubago breaking point to both Makunduchi and Matemwe 132/33 kV substations, totaling 50km each, using double circuit lattice towers. String the second circuit of the 132kV double circuit transmission line between Makunduchi and Matemwe substations for a total length of 100km.
- 132/33 kV substations: Proposed Makunduchi Substation 2x60MVA, 132/33 kV with outdoor 132 kV switchgear, double busbars, one breaker configuration (2000A, 31.5 kA short circuit), 132 kV bus coupler bay, 2 power transformer bays, overhead transmission line bays, steel structures, protection systems, metering equipment, communication, and SCADA, 33kV GIS switchgear, capacitor banks, auxiliary systems, civil work, grounding, lightning protection. Identical scope for Matemwe Substation.
Tanzania has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Zanzibar Energy Sector Transformation and Access Project. Bids must be delivered to the address before October 26, 2023.
