Copenhagen Airport plans biggest-ever expansion
11 May 2023Copenhagen Airport will spend €670m remodelling Terminal 3, its busiest.
The largest expansion ever at the airport is intended to improve the flow of travellers by adding 60,000 sq m of space and a state-of-the-art baggage handling system.
“This is where many passengers pass by one another. Today we have a bottleneck problem. This expansion will solve that,” the airport’s chief executive Thomas Woldbye told Danish newspaper Berlingske.
The project was launched in 2021 and almost immediately halted by the pandemic. Now it is back on track and due to complete in 2027.
Copenhagen handles around 22 million passengers a year.
“We must have a plan for what this airport will look like 10 or 20 or 30 years from now,” Woldbye added. “This project will make room for many parts of the airport to handle up to 50 million passengers.”
