Three consortiums have been shortlisted for a major contract on the C$3.9bn (US$2.9bn) Surrey Langley SkyTrain extension in southeastern Metro Vancouver in the province of British Columbia.

The project will extend the Expo Line 16km from King George Station in the city of Surrey to Langley City Centre. The new line will have eight stations.

The teams are in the running to design, build and install the line’s electrical systems and trackwork. They are:

• Transit Integrators BC, made up of Graham Infrastructure, SNC-Lavalin, and Western Pacific Enterprises;
• Surrey Langley SkyTrain Connectors, which includes Aecon Infrastructure Management, Spain’s SICE, and Parsons;
• Kiewit Infrastructure BC, which consists of US contractors Kiewit Infrastructure and Mass Electric Construction.

The winner is expected to be announced early in 2024.

British Columbia’s transportation ministry expects to award two further contracts – one to build an elevated guideway, roadworks and utilities and another to design and build the eight new stations – by the end of 2023.
