Construction works start for multimillion Water supply PPP project in Bangladesh

Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) has inaugurated the deep tube well construction work on Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis to supply water to the Purbachal New Town project in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
RAJUK has inaugurated the construction work at 102 Road of Sector 3 of Purbachal project area. The Purbachal model town is the planned township with some 6,227.36 ac of land area and will include about 26,000 residential plots of different sizes as well as 62,000 apartments with all necessary infrastructure and urban facilities. The scope of work includes the construction of a 320 km pipeline network, 15 deep tube wells, an administrative building and a workshop under the Purbachal Water Supply Project. The BDT5.92 billion (US$54 million) project will be implemented in four phases and intended to supply 340 million liters of water daily.
Three deep tube wells out of a total of 15 will be built in the first phase, with construction on the first one having already begun. Water will be supplied by these deep tube wells till 2028 and afterward water demand will be fulfilled with surface water supplied by Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA).
