Spanish consulting engineer Ardanuy Ingeniería has won a contract to design seven regional Rail Baltica stations in Estonia. The €368,000 contract includes work on platforms, overpasses, underpasses, outdoor areas, car parks and access roads.

Rauno Lee, Rail Baltic Estonia’s senior project manager, said: “For the crossings between the station buildings and waiting platforms, the completed standard solutions, which are part of the existing design of Raplamaa regional station, will be used and adopted to local conditions.”

Work on the project is due to take five months, with three extra allocated for obtaining construction permits.

The 870km Rail Baltica scheme will have 13 stops in Estonia, as well as an international terminal in the city of Pärnu.

Ardanuy Ingeniería says work has already started on stations along the Estonian border, except Surju and Häädemeeste.

In 2020, it was reported that Rail Baltica was due to be €2bn over budget and four years behind schedule.
