Turkey’s Limak to build Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium
20 January 2023
Turkish contractor Limak Construction is to revamp Barcelona FC’s Spotify Camp Nou stadium. The company was chosen because it offered “the best price in the shortest time”, according to Elena Fort, Barcelona’s vice-president.
The aim is to expand Camp Nou’s capacity from 98,000 to 105,000. The project will be part of the larger Espai Barça development, which will include leisure facilities and mixed-use areas.
Fort said: “Limak Construction, the company that built the best airport in the world, that of Istanbul, put in a bid that technically guarantees we will stick to our deadlines and guarantees so that it can be financed in the markets.”
Work is due to start in June 2023 and end in July 2026.
