Korea-Oman Green Hydrogen Strategy Forum 2022 explores energy transition

The South Korean Embassy and the H2KOREA (Hydrogen Convergence Alliance of Korea) have co-hosted a forum on the sidelines of the Oman Green Hydrogen Summit, at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC).
To contribute to the summit process, the Korea-Oman Green Hydrogen Strategy Forum 2022 was organized with the involvement of Omani and Korean sponsors including HYFLY, Birba Energy, and KOTRA.
Mr. Salim al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, participated in the forum along with officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other public authorities.
According to the statement, “Several high-profile firms of Korea and Oman including POSCO, Samsung Engineering, EDO, OQ, and Oman LNG, to name just a few participated in the forum.”
The forum proved to be an effective platform to exchange perspectives and strategic insights of the key public and private stakeholders in Korea and Oman. It also provided the participants with an opportunity to share their outlooks and assessment on materializing cooperation in green hydrogen projects.
Mr. Kim Kiejoo, Ambassador of Korea to the Sultanate underlined that “building on the traditional energy bridge, Korea and Oman could further create a “green hydrogen bridge” by sharing their respective priorities of exploring green hydrogen economy and leveraging corresponding advantages in a mutually-beneficial way.”
During the forum, the participants reached a common perception on three important matters.
“First, they agreed that a green hydrogen economy represents huge industrial and environmental opportunities. Second, they recognized the collective progress in pursuing solutions for creating an enabling environment to realize the green hydrogen industry while addressing challenges. Third, they acknowledged that the shared priorities and commitment of the two countries to the development of green hydrogen industry would open up promising opportunities,” as per the statement.
