Brazil announced auction for multimillion Prison PPP project

The Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social (BNDES) has announced the auction for Prison public-private partnership (PPP) project in Blumenau, Brazil.
The auction for the selection of the company responsible for managing the project will be held on December 20, 2022 at B3 in São Paulo. The winning organization will receive remuneration for managing the state concession and will be responsible for prison construction, facility maintenance, cleaning and logistical support for the movement of prisoners. The amount of investment in the project is BRL250 million (US$47.1 million).
The scope of works includes the construction, modernization, and operation of a prison, which will have at least 2,979 spaces, out of which 1,600 are closed, 800 provisional and 579 semi-open. The project partners are the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Federal Investment Partnership Program (PPI).
