GE Renewable Energy wins 218.7MW wind turbine contract in India
5 October 2022
GE Renewable Energy, a division of General Electric, has secured a contract from Indian renewable energy firm Continuum Green Energy to supply wind turbines for its 218.7MW portfolio of wind power projects across India.
Under the terms of the contract, GE Renewable Energy will deliver and install 81 of its 2.7-132 onshore wind turbines for projects in the states of Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh.
The turbine orders were placed by Continuum subsidiaries Continuum MP Windfarm Development and Dalavaipuram Renewables.
GE Renewable Energy Asia-Pacific Onshore Wind regional sales leader Deepak Maloo said: “We are pleased to extend and deepen our partnership with Continuum in India.
“This is truly a testament to our strong working relationship and Continuum’s continued trust in our technology and capacity to deliver turbines.
“We look forward to furthering our partnership with Continuum in the future as they continue to build out their renewable energy portfolio in India.
“Over the last year, we have secured over 2GW of orders in India, making us one of the largest wind turbine original equipment manufacturer (OEM) suppliers in the country.”
Managed by Continuum, the wind projects are intended to offer accessible, affordable and reliable energy to local businesses and consumers.
Continuum Green Energy CEO Arvind Bansal said: “We are happy to collaborate with GE in our endeavour to accelerate India’s energy transition towards a sustainable and carbon-neutral future.
“GE is a trusted partner to Continuum. Our common purpose of delivering green energy to power the future of the planet brings together a lot of synergies.”
Last year, Continuum and GE signed an agreement to deliver wind turbines for Continuum’s Morjar, Bhuj and Rajkot wind farms in Gujarat, India.
Earlier this month, GE Renewable Energy received a contract from Green Power Investment to supply turbines for its Fukaura wind farm in Aomori, Japan.
